The combination of Chai flavors are truly my favorite. If I could turn every baked recipe into “chai spiced……” I would. I love the warmth of cinnamon, cardamom and cloves, its just so comforting. I threw everything into a pot and just let it simmer allowing the aromas to fill the house. After I strained it, I stirred just a hint of coconut cream to add richness and help round out the spices. Mmmmmm, sitting here drinking up this lovely chai cocoa, my brain is already racking up ways to chai- ify something……chai spiced carrots? Chai cashew dip? Chai crackers? Chai……..
Chai Hot Chocolate
4 Cups water
2 Tablespoons unsweetened Cocoa Powder
½ Cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
2 drops Vanilla Stevia
3 whole Cardamom Pods
1 Cinnamon Stick + ¼ teaspoon powdered cinnamon
3 whole cloves
¼ teaspoon coconut cream for serving
1. Combine all ingredients into small saucepot.
2. Simmer on medium low for 20 minutes.
3. Divide into mugs and discard whole spices. Serve with additional coconut cream stirred into individual mugs.
Remember: if you are committed to losing weight or reducing fasting blood sugars, partake of these higher carb recipes sparingly. While they are made with healthy ingredients their higher carb content may slow up weight loss and reduction of blood sugars.
